Sun shines at Melrose Pipe Band Championship
Monday, August 22 2005
More than 2,000 spectators gathered in the sunshine in Melrose at the weekend to enjoy the 2005 Pipe Band Championship and Highland Dance Contest at St Mary's School.
The event, which is supported by Scottish Borders Council and The Kilt Shop, Galashiels, attracted bands from as far afield as Pakistan and Oman, as well as from many parts of the UK. As always, local bands were well represented.
This year's championship was boosted by a strong input from local people in Melrose, and they are to be commended on their efforts and enthusiasm.
