Stitching Time at Coldstream Museum
Monday, June 30 2008
The needlework talents of local people will be on display at Coldstream Museum from now until 24 August 2008.
The Stitching Time exhibition shows a cross-section of talent from beginners to experienced, old and young, men and women.
Some have triumphed over disabilities such as Parkinson’s disease and deafness to create beautiful works. Others have turned their passion for their craft into a business.
A diversity of work is on display from quilts to embroidered pictures, cushions to boxes, cross stitch, lace, bead work, patch work and more.
From Tuesday 8 July to Saturday 23 August the museum will be hosting free demonstrations of a variety of needlecrafts (patchwork, embroidery, spinning, lacework, beadwork etc) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons (1.30 to 3.30pm) often with a chance for visitors to have a go themselves. Simple bead and cross stitch kits will also be on sale in the shop.
Groups showing include Abbey Quilters, Kelso; Coldstream SWRI; Kelso Embroiderers’ Guild; Langton SWRI; Needles & Natters, Duns; Roxburgh Lacemakers and the Tuesday Needlecraft Group, Duns.
Coldstream Museum is open throughout the summer, Mon to Sat 10am to 4pm and Sundays 2pm to 4pm.
