New exhibition at Old Gala House

Friday, June 13 2008

Visitors soaking up the unique and historic atmosphere of Old Gala House are in for a real treat when a new exhibition by Borders-based artist Moy Mackay opens on Saturday 21 June.

‘The Storm on the Fold’ will feature some of the latest work from an artist who is rapidly building an international following. Her work is an innovative and vibrant mix of felted merino wool and silk embroidery, rich in colour.

Moy is just back from a trip to Hollywood where her work featured in a joint exhibition with a number of her contemporaries.

Scottish Borders Council’s Museums and Galleries Assistant, Brian Appleby, said: “It is always a real pleasure working with Moy and this exhibition promises to be another tour de force. It is a couple of years since she has had a solo exhibition in Old Gala House and the previous shows have been very successful, so we have high hopes that this one will prove just as popular. Her reputation as an artist with individual flair and an assured eye for colour is now well established and she has a growing list of collectors eager to purchase her work.”

The exhibition will run in the Pringle Gallery at Old Gala House, Scott Crescent, Galashiels, until Sunday 27 July. Admission is free and there is full wheelchair access.
