New Planning Enforcement Charter for the Borders
Thursday, February 28 2008
Scottish Borders Council has published its first charter for planning enforcement.
It sets out what powers are available to the Council and how it will investigate possible breaches of planning control.
Planning and Building Standards Chairman, Councillor Jock Houston, said: “This charter reinforces our commitment to improving the quality of building in the Borders and to ensure that appropriate action is taken when developers flout the law or when things go wrong.”
The charter is available in libraries, Council contact centres and area planning offices.
The Council has also introduced an online form to enable residents to get in touch with any concerns about unauthorised work.
The form and charter can be downloaded from www.scotborders.gov.uk/enforcement
