Scottish Borders Council Libraries Amnesty starts this week

Tuesday, January 8 2008

Scottish Borders Council (SBC) Library and Information Services is holding an Amnesty on all fines and charges over the next three weeks.

The Amnesty means that any overdue items, regardless of how long the items have been on loan, can be returned to any SBC library or mobile library free of charge until Saturday 26 January.

Councillor Garvie, Executive Spokesman for Sport, Culture and Community Learning said: “I welcome this initiative, which is designed to encourage the return of library stock so it is available again for other people to borrow.  I would encourage library users to check their bookshelves and cupboards and make the effort to return any library stock they may have, even if those books are long overdue.”
