Hearts give Denholm Primary School an early Christmas gift

Thursday, December 13 2007

Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust recently presented Denholm Primary school with a new set of football strips to replace those destroyed in the fire in April 2006.

On hearing the school’s story Alan White, Heart of Midlothian Trust Programme Manager, had no hesitation in organising the gifts to be presented to the school: “We had a small number of strips available from last season and when I heard that the school had been burnt down and the children had lost their team kit, I was more than happy to help by giving the school a set of strips.”

The youngsters from Denholm will now look the part when they attend the annual Scottish Football Association (SFA) school festivals next year.

Scottish Borders Council’s SFA Development Officer Drew Kelly commented: “It’s a marvellous gesture from Hearts and I thank Alan for the continued support Hearts have given to the Borders communities.  Denholm Primary School staff and pupils have always been great supporters of all of the SFA programmes so the strips are well deserved.”

Avril Gibson, Principal Teacher for Denholm Primary School added: “We really appreciate Hearts giving us these strips. It’s another step forward for the school.”
