Woodland mural is unveiled at Fountainhall primary school

Friday, November 2 2007

Fountainhall Primary School and Nursery welcomed Executive Member for Education, Councillor Catriona Bhatia to the school to unveil their new woodland mural this week.

The mural was designed to brighten up the school entrance and make it more welcoming to visitors. The pupils came up with the idea of creating a forest walk at the school and every pupil created a woodland creature for the project.

Councillor Bhatia was impressed with the pupils’ work: “I have visited many schools over the last few months and it is a great joy to see the wide variety of projects taking place. Projects like this not only encompass a wide range of aspects of the curriculum but also give the children a sense of ownership and respect for their school and the surrounding environment.  I am sure visitors to the school will admire the mural and appreciate the huge amount of time and effort which has gone into it.”
