Ukraine Art Exhibition at Old Gala House
Monday, October 22 2007
This week is the last chance for Borders residents to view an exhibition of paintings at Old Gala House by an artist known as the ‘Monet of Ukraine’, Professor Andriy Yalanskyi.
Yalanskyi’s work is very different from his work executed under the old communist regime of Ukraine, a time when he had no freedom of choice and could only paint large industrial landscapes. Highly romanticised his work now covers a wide range of subjects from tranquil gardens on hot sunny days to farmyard scenes of chickens pecking at the ground, geese gathering on ponds and herds of cows basking in the fields.
This is the last show of the season at Old Gala House and should not be missed. The exhibition closes on Saturday, October 27 at the Christopher Boyd Gallery, Old Gala House. Opening times are Tuesday to Friday, 1-4p.m. and Saturday 10a.m – 4p.m. Admission is free.
