Colours now on display in Rosetta Road
Friday, September 7 2007
The Colours of the 8th Battalion The Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) which, in April, were handed for safekeeping in perpetuity by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to SBC’s Convener Alasdair Hutton, are now on display in the Council Offices, Rosetta Road, Peebles, where all are welcome to view them.
The Colours were presented in 1950 by the former Princess Royal to the 8th Battalion (TA), which developed such strong connections with Peeblesshire during the two World Wars and with whom so many local people served and gave their lives.
A superb oak display case, constructed by T.P. Davidson and Son, Jedburgh, houses the Colours, which are set off by an explanatory historical script.
