A partnership that will give people in the Borders more access to learning has been launched.
Scottish Borders Council Community Learning and Development will become a learndirect scotland branded partner, formalising a relationship that has been working to improve skills and learning opportunities in the Borders.
The partnership was launched at Scottish Borders Community Learning and Development Langlee Complex this month by learndirect scotland Partnership Manager Claire Johnston and SBC Community Learning and Development Manager, Marjorie Hutton.
A number of other organisations are involved in the branded partner initiative, including Borders College, NHS Borders Healthy Living Networks, Scottish Borders Council Libraries, Careers Scotland, Learning For ALL Partnership and the Rural Adult Learning Partnership.
The initiative will formalise learndirect scotland’s working arrangements with organisations that have a role to play in helping people to get into learning.
SBC’s Community Learning and Development and learndirect scotland have worked together on a number of projects including the award winning Online Borders, which provides access to local information, learning materials and advice on careers guidance, employment skills and training.
Director of learndirect scotland, Yvonne Brown said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Scottish Borders Council Community Learning and Development and I am confident that by continuing to do so we will help more people in the Borders take that important first or next step on their learning journeys.”
Marjorie Hutton, SBC’s Community Learning and Development Manager, said: “We are delighted to receive learndirect scotland Branded Partner status, which brings with it access for learners to an exciting range of Learndirect Scotland resources and online learning opportunities. This will greatly benefit both learners and our partners across the Borders.
