Head for the hills and sail away at Whiteadder
Friday, July 13 2007
This summer, people of all ages are being urged to head for the Lammermuir hills and ‘set sail’ for Whiteadder Sailing Centre.
The recently refurbished sailing centre near Cranshaws, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Lammermuirs, is offering a wide range of junior and adult training courses to appeal to sailors of all ages and levels, from the complete beginner to the experienced sailor.
John Hall, who leads Scottish Borders Council’s Outdoor Education Team and is the Centre Principal, explained how the sailing centre has gone from strength to strength over the last few years: “Following its £200,000 makeover back in 2005, the centre has since had a further investment to provide a new jetty and an extension to the boatshed to provide additional storage space. Alongside a wide range of boats, the centre now includes a brand new fleet of ‘RS Tera’ dinghies to cater for the needs of young sailors aged 8-12 years and we are delighted to offer a wide range of courses in dinghy sailing for both beginners and improvers.”
To discuss what kind of courses are available or to make a booking, please ring the centre on 01361 890397 or drop in and talk to the instructors directly. Courses cost £30 per day, most are of two or five days duration and boat hire (without training) costs £6 per person/hour.
