Tuesday, January 16 2007
Scottish Borders Council project worker, Phoebe Lowe of Innerleithen, who is studying for her M.Litt (Masters in Museum and Gallery Studies) at St Andrews University has been given the opportunity to curate her first exhibition entitled ‘Design for Living’ which opens in the Tower Foyer Gallery at University of Dundee on Friday, 19th January 2007.
The exhibition displays selected objects from the University of Dundee Museum collection to reveal the importance of design in everyday life.
Phoebe, who is employed part time by the Scottish Borders Council Museums Service, said: “My exhibition invites the viewer to consider the invisible link between objects that is formed by their design. I want people to explore the relationship between art, science and everyday life.”
Phoebe graduated in BA (Hons.) Contemporary Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005 and has exhibited her own works of contemporary art in galleries in Manchester and Cheshire.
She added: “I am really grateful to the University of Dundee for this opportunity to express my ideas using objects from their collections.”
The exhibition runs from 19th January until 24th February 2007 and is free of charge:
Monday to Friday:09:30 - 20:30
Saturday: 09.30 - 16:30
