A7 Roadworks at Langholm

Tuesday, January 9 2007

Roadworks are due to begin on the A7 at Langholm from Monday, January 15 for a period of two weeks.

During that time, the road will be closed to buses and HGVs, although cars will still be able to pass through the traffic management system which will be in operation.

For the first week, work will take place at the Thomas Telford Road junction for road reconstruction and for the second week, work will take place at Ashley Bank where a wall requires stabilising. Diversions will be in place for HGVs via the A72, A702, M74 and M6 and the X95 bus service between Hawick and Carlisle will be diverted via Newcastleton.

To maintain a public transport link between Hawick and Langholm, a minibus service will be provided by Munro's of Jedburgh, Mondays to Saturdays and timetables will be available from Scottish Borders Council contact centres.
