Langholm to Lockerbie road closes

Thursday, December 7 2006

Popular route in Dumfries and Galloway closes for the forseeable future due to a landslip

If you are out and about this Christmas, you'd be well advised to avoid the B7068 between Langholm and Lockerbie, in Dumfries and Galloway.

Due to a recent landslip at Scroggs Bridge, the road is now closed to vehicular traffic. The alternative vehicular routes are

  • HGV’s: Westbound – B7068 to B722 at Fallford Bridge to B722 towards Eaglesfield to B7076 to Lockerbie.  Eastbound – B7076 to Eaglesfield to B722 at Fallford Bridge to B7068.
  • LGV’s & Cars (less than 7.5 tonne):  B7068 to C81a Paddockhole to C83a Corrie to B7068 Bridge Street, Lockerbie.  B7068 Bridge Street, Lockerbie to C81a at Corrie to B7068 at Paddockhole.

In the interests of road safety, drivers are requested to follow the signposted diversion. However, pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Other weight restrictions associated with the closure are being made on local roads in the area.

It is envisaged that this diversionary route will be in place for the foreseeable future.
