SBC’s New Eating Out Guide a sell-out
Friday, December 1 2006
Scottish Borders Council’s (SBC) plans to produce an Eating Out Guide to the Scottish Borders has proved extremely popular – with all available advertising space sold within two weeks.
Plans for the guide were revealed at the SBC Best Tastes Awards held in early November. The leaflet will feature establishments nominated in the popular competition and highlight the award-winning businesses. It will be produced in time to feature in VisitScotland's 'bedroom packs' – available in most accommodation in the area – as well as in Tourist Information Centres and in downloadable form on web sites.
Councillor John Elliot, SBC’s Planning & Economic Development Executive spokesman, commented: "We are delighted that this new project has had such a positive and rapid response. It will enable our award-winning food businesses and all those nominated in the competition to have even wider coverage than before. In particular, the Awards recognise those who use local produce, have imaginative menus and great customer service. Feedback from visitors and locals shows that there is a big demand to know which eating places are providing just that and we are confident that this guide will prove to be very popular."
