Help us identify Tweeddale’s core paths
Thursday, September 7 2006
Do you walk, cycle or ride regularly in Tweeddale? If so, Scottish Borders Council needs you to help identify the area’s most important paths.
The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, which came into force in February 2005, placed a duty on SBC to develop a system of Core Paths to give the public reasonable access throughout the Council’s area.
A major part of Core Path Planning is to understand what the community would like for outdoor access and, in particular, where their Core Paths could be located.
To this end, SBC has appointed Projects Plus Consultants, an experienced access group, to consult local communities on what paths they feel should be put forward as 'Candidate Core Paths'.
Projects Plus will be holding Focus Group meetings to assess the existing Tweed Trails in the Tweeddale area against a set of Core Path Criteria.
The meetings will take place between 7.30pm and 9pm on:
Wednesday 13 September at the Graham Institute, West Linton
Tuesday 19 September in the Burgh Hall, Peebles
Wednesday 20 September in the Memorial Hall, Innerleithen
If you walk, cycle or ride a horse in Tweeddale, you are welcome to attend the closest or most convenient Focus Group.
The Candidate Paths identified will be passed to SBC who will consult on the resultant Draft Core Path Plan.
