Open Day at Duns Library, Thursday 14 September.
Ssssssshhhhhh!! No talking, no singing and certainly no fun … Is this your idea of a library? Not any more!
Scottish Borders Council’s Libraries service is holding a special open day in Duns on 14 September to show how libraries are changing, and to demonstrate the many services that libraries now offer to enhance their traditional book borrowing and reference services.
A wide range of activities, events, displays and demonstrations will be running all day at Duns Library, from Rhymetimes for babies and very young children to Internet shopping taster sessions; from talks on local and family history to a question-and-answer session with Border Reivers Rugby Club; and from poet Anne Ryland to writer-in-Scots, Matthew Fitt, both working with and entertaining groups of local school children.
Everyone is welcome to come along and join the fun, from the official launch at 9.30 am through to enjoying a glass of wine with author Peter Kerr at 7.30pm.
Some activities must be booked in advance, and all are free, with the exception of the evening event which costs £2.00. Why not pop along and find out what libraries can do for you?
For further information, please call Duns Library on 01361 882622 or Gill Swales at Library HQ 01750 20842.
