Find out about Big Lottery funding on 25 July
Monday, July 3 2006
If you are looking for funding for a community project, Tuesday, 25 July is a date to mark in your diary. That is when the Big Lottery Fund (BIG), the largest National Lottery funder in Scotland, is coming to the Borders.
The organisation will be holding a Big Day Out at the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels, with one-to-one sessions for potential applicants to discuss their funding ideas and receive information on BIG's new funding programme.
Across Scotland the Big Lottery Fund has £257 million to invest in local communities over the next three years. It is committed to bringing real, lasting improvements to the lives of people most in need.
One-to-one sessions will be available on 25 July from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. You can book in advance on the number below. A general presentation about the Big Lottery Fund and its funding programmes will start at 6pm for 6.30pm, finishing at 8.00pm.
For further information on the Big Day Out and to book an appointment to discuss your project, please contact Jean Robertson SBC Lottery Officer. Tel: 01835 826543 or online
To ensure that BIG funding achieves real change, it is to be delivered to projects through four themed areas of investment under BIG's Investing in Communities Programme.
The themes are:
* Life Transitions - the changes people experience at key stages in their lives
* Supporting 21st Century Living and the social changes it has brought to many communities
* Dynamic, inclusive communities - supporting the development of the voluntary and community sector
* Growing community assets - the acquisition and development of a broad range of assets.
