HMIe Inspection: Langlee Primary School - follow-through report
Tuesday, June 6 2006
Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education recently revisited Langlee Primary School to examine progress made in implementing the action points that were raised at the original inspection in May 2004.
The inspection team were very pleased with the progress that had been made in the mainstream school and praised the very good progress that had been made in developing the arrangements for monitoring and evaluating the work of the school.
They were also very positive about the good progress that the school had made in raising standards of attainment (especially in English Language and Maths, and on the progress made in improving the overall quality of the curriculum and teaching and learning), as a result of the hard work and commitment of the staff in the school. As a result of the improvements made, the school is now in a very good position to develop even further.
While recognising that some progress had been made in addressing the actions required in the Support Centre, Inspectors have indicated that more needs to be done to improve the quality of provision in the Centre and the approaches to inclusion in associated schools. Further work has already begun on this and an additional report will be provided to parents in a year's time.
Janice Chapman, headteacher at Langlee, said, "I am delighted with the final report. Although there are still some aspects of the Support Centre which need to be addressed, the overall flavour of the report is good, with many positive comments. I am pleased that the hard work and commitment of the teachers and support staff have put into improving classroom experiences for children is acknowledged and praised in the report.
I am also particularly pleased that the work of the school to raise attainment significantly is highlighted and that the report recognises that the school is now achieving appropriate levels of attainment in all areas of language and Maths."
