New strategy to help the Council gauge public opinion

Friday, March 31 2006

Scottish Borders Council is asking for comment on a new strategy to help it gauge public opinion.

It will include points such as how to make sure questionnaires are easy to follow and how long to make a consultation period last.

"As a local authority, the Council often needs to know what the public thinks and wants on a wide range of issues, but it's not always that easy to bring questions and answers together," explained Clare Malster, SBC Community Engagement Officer. "We need to know, for instance, if we are giving people enough time to comment and whether our questionnaires are clear enough."

The new Community Engagement and Consultation Strategy is available on this website or by calling Debbie Gray on 01835 825030 or online
Comments should be submitted by 31 May.
Clare Malster is also available to come and meet with your group if you would like to discuss the proposed strategy face to face.
