This year's Borders Cycling Festival will take place in Hawick on the weekend of 26 and 27 August.
The event will include graded routes to suit all levels - families, recreational cyclists and experienced cyclists. Road and off-road routes will be in place on both days.
A total of 138 riders took part in the 2005 Festival in Duns.
The dates of the 2006 festival were announced on Monday by Scottish Borders Council's Sports Development Unit and the Borders Cycle Festival Working Group. The announcement was attended by successful young competitive cyclist Sean Newington of Newtown St Boswells, who will be joining the Sean Kelly cycling squad in Belgium in March.
This year's festival is funded by Scottish Borders Council, Scottish Border Paths and the Borders Local Sports Council Network.
The 2006 organising committee comprises: Tony Yates, Chairman; Susan Yates, Treasurer; Alan Ainslie, Mick Brown, Steven Riddell and Doug Ramage of Hawick Cycling Club; Colin Dumma, George Jeffrey and Caroline McDermott of Kelso Wheelers Cycling Club; Les Newington of Gala Cycling Club; John Nisbett of Auchencrow Thistles; David Laing of Roxburgh Sports Council and John McBay, SBC Senior Sports Development Officer.
Tony Yates said, "There will be something for everyone at this year's festival.
I am delighted that so many organisations have contributed. The 2006 Hawick event promises to be a memorable occasion for
the town and for all the cyclists who attend."
