History and Highlights
An impressive building with fine views built in the 1820s on the site of the town’s mediaeval castle. The Jailer’s house presents the history of the town, while a walk through the old cell blocks gives an atmospheric glimpse of prison life in the 1800s and provides an opportunity to meet the prisoners!
Audio tour, foreign language and children’s guides, audio-visual display on ground floor.
Licensed as a venue for weddings.
