Street Lights, Traffic Lights and Road Signs

The Council has responsibility for street lights, traffic lights and road signs on most roads, streets and other public places in the Borders. However, we do not cover "trunk roads" as these are managed by a management contractor that works on behalf of the Scottish Government. You can check which roads are trunk roads.

The Council's Lighting and Communications Service manages Street Lights and Traffic Lights. Road Signs are managed by Road User Group (Traffic Management and Road Safety).
