Plans and Research: Information Management
Policies contained within the Development Plan must be monitored, reviewed and based upon up-to-date information so that they are robust and justifiable.
The Plans and Research Team and the Information Systems Team have a responsibility for a number of key databases including:
- The Housing Land Audit (HLA). This provides information on available housing land and annual house completions. The HLA is drawn up in association with Communities Scotland, Homes for Scotland, Scottish Environmental Protection Agency, and Scottish Water (external websites).
- The Scottish Vacant and Derelict Land Survey. This provides information on vacant and derelict land, principally for industry. An annual return is made to the Scottish Government.
- Employment Land Survey. This provides information on the availability and marketability of employment land.
- Retail Centre Survey. This provides information on town centre uses and vacancies.
The Planning and Economic Development department also monitors other areas of information essential to the Development Plan. These include:
-
Household estimates and projections
-
Retailing
