Local Plan
The Local Plan and Structure Plan form the statutory Development Plan for the Scottish Borders area. The Local Plan sets out detailed policies and proposals for the development and use of land to guide planning decisions.
The Local Plan takes the overall land requirement for particular land uses such as housing, as defined in the Structure Plan and translates this into specific site allocations. These are precisely defined on maps that form part of the plan.
Adopted Local Plan
The Council sent certified copies of the approved version of the Scottish Borders Local Plan to the Scottish Ministers on 1 July 2008 advising of the intention to adopt the Plan. This has been advertised in all local papers and all consultees and respondents throughout the process have been informed. The Scottish Borders Local Plan was formally adopted on 4 September 2008.
