Structure Plan Alteration process

Approved Structure Plan Alteration

Scottish Borders Council Structure Plan Alteration was approved by Scottish Ministers on 9 June 2009. The Structure Plan Alteration will become operative from this date alongside and replacing where appropriate the Structure Plan approved in 2002. Finalised Structure Plan Alteration: Proposed Modifications by Scottish Ministers

The Finalised Structure Plan Alteration was submitted to Scottish Ministers on 22 July 2008. On 20 March 2009 Scottish Ministers advertised proposed modifications to the Finalised Structure Plan Alteration. The proposed modifications and the reasons for them are available to view below:

 


Scottish Ministers invited comments and formal objections to the proposed modifications and the consultation closed on the 1 May 2009.

Finalised Structure Plan Alteration 

The Finalised Structure Plan Alteration that was agreed by Council on 22 May 2008 was advertised in the local press and all consultees and respondents throughout the process were informed. The finalised documents were submitted to the Scottish Ministers for approval on 22 July 2008 and are available to view below.

Comments on the Finalised Structure Plan Alteration were to be submitted to the Directorate for the Built Environment at the Scottish Government and the consultation period finished on the 3 September 2008.

Draft Structure Plan Alteration and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

The consultative draft Structure Plan Alteration was approved by Council on the 27 September 2007 and the consultative documents are available to view below. The Council agreed to advertise the Structure Plan Alteration and the Strategic Environmental Assessment for a period of 12 weeks. The consultation period closed on the 25 January 2008.

 

Structure Plan Alteration Report to Council 

Consultative Draft Structure Plan Alteration 

The Structure Plan Alteration is a review of the housing policies, including:

  • Chapter 1: Development Strategy
  • Chapter 4: Housing
  • Chapter 7: Implementation and Monitoring

Chapters 1 and 7 include updates to the approved Structure Plan, and Chapter 4 is completely revised.

 

The Strategic Environmental Assessment Report assesses the strategic environmental impacts of the Structure Plan Alteration proposals. The report includes the following appendices:

 

Stakeholder meetings

In the process of preparing the Structure Plan Alteration a number of stakeholder meetings were held. These meetings included a presentation on the background of the Alteration and its timetable.
