Edinburgh and SE Scotland Strategic Development Plan
As part of the changes in the Scottish Planning System being brought into place by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2006, there will be a requirement to produce a Strategic Development Plan for the Edinburgh City Region. This plan will cover a wider geographic area than the existing Lothian Structure Plan.
The White Paper on "Modernizing the Planning System" and recently published Consultation Paper "Strategic Development Planning Authorities: Designation Orders and Statutory Guidance", envisage that Scottish Borders Council and Fife Council will participate with the four Lothian Authorities in the production of a new Strategic Development Plan.
An interim committee has been established to undertake preliminary work in preparation for the anticipated introduction of new legislation. The minutes and agendas of this interim committee can be accessed at the East Lothian Council Website (East Lothian Council are providing initial secretariat facilities to the committee).
Future Scottish Borders Council reports on the Strategic Development Plan will be published on the Scottish Borders Council Website.
