Local Plan Inquiry
The Council is currently reviewing the four adopted local plans for the area. It is preparing a single local plan to cover all of the Scottish Borders Council area. Following publication of the Finalised Local Plan, the next stage in the process is for the council to consider a report on all objections received.
All objections will then be considered by an independent reporter appointed from the Scottish Executive Independent Reporters Unit (SEIRU). The Reporter will be charged with undertaking the Public Local Inquiry on behalf of the Council.
The Reporter held a Pre-Inquiry Meeting on 25 April at 6.30pm in the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels, to discuss administrative procedures and to arrange the running order for the inquiry.
The Public Local Inquiry is currently anticipated to begin in early September, 2006 and will be run using circular 32/1996 code of Practice for Local Plan Inquiries and Code of Practice - Interim Supplementary Guidance as a basis.
Following the Inquiry, the Reporter will prepare his report for consideration by the Council. The Council will then proceed through the appropriate processes towards formal adoption.
