Summary
Contamination can cause adverse effects on human health, ecosystems, property and the water environment as well as preventing the satisfactory redevelopment of 'brownfield' sites in towns and villages. This strategy has been prepared to take a strategic approach towards the identification of land which meets the statutory definition of "contaminated land".
