Information and advice

Building Standards provide a series of explanatory documents and policy guidelines to assist the public in assessing their building proposals prior to implementation.  Advice and Information Services are provided through:

  • Licensing, Public Entertainment and Community Safety:
  • Providing advice and certification of licensed premises and places of entertainment and on community events, including liaison with Emergency Services; Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Health Board.

Disability issues in terms of the Disability Discrimination Act and the Building Act:

  • Assessment of the needs of the disabled in respect of access to buildings and facilities within buildings both in terms of the Building Regulations and the Disability Discrimination Act.
  • Consultations with disability groups in respect of this remit together with the publication of guidance for designers and developers.

Property Enquiries, Property Clearances and Inspections:

  • Providing advice and clearance of property enquiries during ownership transactions in association with Solicitors, Surveyors and Estate Agents.
