David Hume, Chief Executive of Scottish Borders Council, is the Returning Officer for the elections which take place in the Scottish Borders.
Scottish Borders Council
Elections for Scottish Borders Council take place every four years. At this time, all Councillors retire and require to stand for re-election if they wish to continue as a Councillor. The next elections for the Council are due to be held on 3 May 2007.
Scottish Parliament
Elections for the Scottish Parliament also take place every four years. The next election will be held on 3 May 2007.
Westminster Parliament
The last General Election for the Westminster Parliament was held on 5 May 2006. The date of the next election will be determined by the Prime Minister, but must be before the end of May 2010.
European Parliament
Elections for the European Parliament were held in the United Kingdom on Thursday 10 June 2004. A proportional representation voting system is used for elections to the European Parliament.
