Criminal Justice Service Aims and Objectives
The Criminal Justice Service aims to:

build safer, stronger communities by helping to reduce crime and the fear of crime, through our work with people who offend

promote partnership approaches to crime control, engaging with communities as key partners in responding to the harmful effects of crime

meet the demand for core Social Work services, and target these in accordance with national priorities and policies

ensure that we deliver all services in accordance with national standards and objectives for Social Work in the Criminal Justice System, and that services provide best value for the public funding we receive

deliver consistently effective supervision of people who offend, informed by appropriate risk assessment and current research

provide offenders with opportunities to make positive contributions to community life and to help them re-integrate into their communities

provide courts with credible community-based services in order that the unnecessary use of custody can be avoided.

- opposing all forms of negative discrimination
- acknowledging the right of people to make choices about how they lead their lives
- assisting people to improve their capacity for making informed choices
