Community Care Services

Social Work Services provides a wide range of services for people who have community care needs.  Some of these are provided directly by the Department while some are purchased from independent or voluntary providers.  These services include:

  • Care at home...
    personal care, domestic care including laundry and shopping, support with daily living, meals at home, Bordercare Alarm, equipment and adaptations.
  • Respite care...
    respite care at home, residential respite care and flexible short breaks.
  • Support services...
    day support services, drop-in centres, housing support services, community support services, supported employment.
  • Care homes...
    residential and nursing home care.
  • Advice, information and support...
    occupational therapy, welfare benefits advice.

How do I get a Community Care service?

The first step to getting a Community Care service is to contact your local Social Work office or ask your District Nurse, Occupational Therapist or your key Health Worker about an assessment.  More information about our eligibility criteria, assessment processes and charges is available.
