Children, Young People and Family Support
A shared vision for future services
During 2007 a project team which includes representatives from the Social Work Services and Education & Lifelong Learning
Departments is working to improve the way services are provided in the future. At present the Project Team is reviewing current
services, has agreed a project plan and a shared vision for future services. More information about the Transforming Services
to children and young people is available here.
Services for children, young people and families
As part of our goal to support families to live safely together in the community, we recognise that all families face challenges and that any family can be affected by problems. We are here to help and provide that support when children or young people are at risk, or when things go wrong. The range of services we offer includes:
- Adoption
- Short and long-term fostering
- Child Protection
- Family Support Service
- Support for children affected by disabilities
- Specialist Education -The Wilton Centre
- Programmes to reduce offending
- Residential care - Glenview
Other services include:
-
Intensive support and outreach service - this service seeks to reduce the number of children in care placements by providing targeted, intensive support where there is a high risk of children requiring to be looked after away from home.
-
Throughcare and aftercare service - the aim of this service is to provide support for young people who are unable to live at home but are not yet ready to live independently.
