Waste and Recycling

Scottish Borders Council is able to recycle a wide range of waste products and is one of the leading local authorities in Scotland in meeting government targets for recycling.

Even so, the majority of commercial and domestic waste from the Borders still goes to landfill. There is only one landfill site currently operating in the area which is at Easter Langlee, Galashiels. Other waste is transported to sites outside of the Borders.
