Community Recycling Centres

There are community recycling centres at the following locations which are open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 4pm:

  • Duns, on the Industrial Estate (See map)
  • Eshiels, near Peebles, off the A72 (See map)
  • Eyemouth, next to the sewage works at Gunsgreenhill (See map)
  • Galashiels, at Easter Langlee (See map)
  • Hawick, on Mansfield Road (See map)

All of these centres can accept household domestic waste, and the following for recycling:

  • Paper-based drink and liquid food cartons (eg Tetra Pak cartons)
  • Glass - All colours
  • Aluminium & Steel Cans
  • Textiles
  • Books
  • Tapes
  • Paper and Card
  • Plastics
  • Car Batteries
  • LPG Cylinders
  • Waste Mineral Oils (vehicle engine oil etc.)
  • Scrap Metals
  • Fridges
  • Garden Waste
  • Rubble

In addition, Selkirk Community Recycling Centre, on Riverside Road, is open Monday to Friday between 10am and 6pm, Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 6pm. This facility can accept all the above, except books, tapes and rubble.

Limited recycling facilities are also available at Recycling Points situated at locations throughout the Borders.
