Summary
Access for all, including walking, cycling, use of waterways and horse riding can each make an invaluable contribution to the quality of life of people who live in the Scottish Borders. Access also forms an important part of the resources which are available for visitors to the area. This Outdoor Access Strategy defines priorities for outdoor access planning, development and management in the area over the coming years. The following Vision forms the basis of the Strategy:
"To develop a high quality and renowned access network, based on local and visitor needs and aspirations, which respects and reflects local character and the environment and provides clear economic and social benefits. Our vision for access in the Scottish Borders is that the network will contribute positively to the New Ways Framework."
