Conservation grants
As part of our responsibility towards the built heritage, a number of conservation grant schemes are available to assist owners of properties.
The current schemes are as follows:
Conservation Grant Scheme
This scheme provides modest grant assistance to a maximum of £1,000, towards works of repair or restoration to historic buildings. The necessary work must be undertaken to a minimum standard and only works to architectural elements that give special character to the building will normally be considered. For example, a stained glass window, decorative slating or cast iron railings. Routine maintenance is not eligible.
Town Scheme Grants
We provide, in partnership with Historic Scotland, limited grant aid in certain Conservation Areas which have been judged to be "outstanding for grant purposes". The limited funding is currently targeted to the following Conservation Areas: Jedburgh and Kelso.
