Local regeneration is a very important issue, affecting many of us in the Borders.

As well as specific regeneration areas, we have identified an issue which affects the other small towns in the Borders. We are currently working on a "Campaign for the future of the Scottish Borders’ towns". This is to ensure that small towns in Scotland are recognised as being as important as the cities. Nationally 28% of the population live in the cities and 33% in small towns (and within the Borders over 60%). To achieve this goal we are lobbying the Scottish Government and working with other rural local authorities.
