Learning Online

THE PEOPLE’S NETWORK is a lottery-funded government initiative which gives FREE access to internet and computing facilities in all UK public libraries. All 12 libraries in the Scottish Borders are part of this exciting new project, making a total of 88 computers available across the region’s public libraries.
The project provides a range of software applications and ICT equipment in every library, which will allow library users to create and produce their own documents, graphics and web pages. It offers improved access to the Internet, and with it all the education, training, guidance and employment opportunities it provides. A range of assistive equiment is available to help anyone who has difficulty using a standard mouse or keyboard. Software is available on all PCs if you want to enlarge the text on the screen. Access to all these is FREE.
Video conferencing facilities will be available in Eyemouth, Innerleithen and Jedburgh libraries.
Library staff are able to help you use the ICT facilities to find information, and there are help sheets on various aspects of computing available. Although staff are unable to provide any training for PC users, it is hoped that in the future courses will be offered by a selection of learning providers, using library computers by arrangement.
