Welcome to the library

There is no charge for using the computers. It is free to join the library.

Please ask the staff if you are unsure about anything.

JOINING THE LIBRARY.

  • To join the library you must show us a form of identification which shows your UK address. If you do not have anything with your address on it, you can still use the computers as a Guest User, but you will be required to sign a Guest User form on each visit.
  • You can borrow books, CD’s and DVD’s using your library card. Items borrowed must be returned by the date stamped on them. We charge fines if the items are returned late.
  • Each time you visit the library you must bring your library card with you.
  • Please return your library card to us if you no longer wish to use the Library.

RULES

  • Internet access from library computers is not filtered. When you log on you agree to abide by our Acceptable Use Policy so you must not access sites which may cause offence to others. Computers in all libraries are randomly checked to make sure the Acceptable Use Policy is followed. Breaking this policy could result in you being stopped from using library computers.
  • Your library card is yours and must not be used by anyone else.
  • No more than two people are allowed to use the computer together.

Keeping food and drink away from computers.

Switching off your mobile phone when visiting the library.

Talking quietly.

Lowering the volume on your headphones so that only you can hear it.

COMPUTER USE

  • Use the number on your library card as your user number and use the PIN number which goes with your card. If you don’t know your PIN please ask a member of staff.
  • Printing: Please do not log out of your computer until you have collected your prints. Always allow sufficient time for your printing before the end of your session. Print as normal and accept the charges. Then go to the counter with your library card to pay the money due. Your prints will then be released to the printer.
  • When you have finished you must log off before leaving. Click on (icon) and then “Yes” to finish your session.
  • If you are coming to the library to use a computer we would advise you to book. You can ask in the library or telephone to make a booking.
  • The Acceptable Use Policy is available in Polish. Please ask library staff for a copy.
  • Do not look at web sites of an adult nature or that are sexually explicit.
  • Do not look at web sites that contain illegal material e.g. Child pornography, terrorism, racial hatred.
  • Newspapers and news services are available in different languages 
  • The library catalogue showing what we have in stock is available online
