Discounts for disabled people

Disability reductions

You may be eligible for a reduction if your property is the sole/main residence of someone who is permanently disabled.

It must also have one of these facilities:

  • a room (not a bathroom, a kitchen or a lavatory) mainly used to meet the needs of a disabled resident.
  • an additional bathroom or kitchen used to meet the needs of a disabled resident.
  • enough floor space for a wheelchair used by the disabled person when indoors.

The above facilities must be essential or of major importance to the disabled resident by reason of the nature and extent of their disability.

If you do qualify for this reduction you will pay the Council Tax as if your property were in the next lowest property Band.
