Which band is my property in?
You can find the valuation band for your property on the Scottish Assessors website.
Property valuations - how are they done?
Each property is placed in a valuation band by the Assessor. Each property was placed in a Band in 1991 based on what the property would have sold for at that time.
Property in the wrong band?
If you think your property might be in the wrong valuation band you can appeal against this. For information on how and when to appeal contact the Assessor.
New properties - buying and building
If you have bought or are building a new property the Assessor will need to place it in a valuation band before you can be charged council tax. On completion of a building the Assessor will decide what value the property would have fetched if it had been in existence in 1991. The Assessor will inform the council tax department once this has been done who will then arrange to send you a council tax bill.
Reductions
You may be eligible for Disabled Band Reduction if your property is the sole/main residence of a permanently disabled person.
Who to contact
