Problems paying your Council Tax?
We are here to help you and if you are finding it difficult to pay your Council Tax you should contact a member of staff at your local contact centre.
If you are on a low income you may be entitled to claim Council Tax benefit even if you work or have savings. The benefit scheme is based on:
- your income
- your savings and investments
- your personal circumstances
- the level of council tax you have to pay
If you do not qualify for any reductions we may be able to make a payment arrangement with you. We may ask you for details of money coming in and out so that we make a payment arrangement you can afford.

If you do not pay your Council Tax we may take legal action against you.
Problems paying your Business Rates?
We are here to help you and if you are finding it difficult to pay your Business Rates you should contact a member of staff on 0845 3000 341.
Staff will be able to check whether you are entitled to any reduction in your Business Rates which may help reduce your payments.
If you are having difficulty making payment you should contact a member of staff to discuss your payment options.
If you are finding it difficult to get the payments to us on time you should consider paying by one of the following methods:
- Direct Debit – this will ensure your payment reach us on time every month. If you want to pay by this method you need to complete and return the Direct Debit form sent with your bill, or alternatively download the Direct Debit form.
- Standing Order – details of when payments are due and amounts are on your bill.
- Telephone Banking – available daily except between 5.30pm and 5.45pm daily
- Internet Payments. – available daily at a time that suits you.
Payment must be made on or before the due date shown on your bill.
If you do not pay your Business Rates we may take legal action against you.
