Trading Standards offers a business consultancy service to all traders in the Scottish Borders. Advice is provided by a named business adviser, dedicated to the needs of the company or individual trader.
Preventative guidance and advice on any trading standards issue is provided at source, with the aim of assisting compliance with the law in a constructive atmosphere.
In this way, uniform interpretation of the law is promoted by providing a single point of contact through which trading standards matters nationwide are channeled. A national machinery exists allowing matters of doubt to be referred to a conciliation service.
Special emphasis is placed on local surveillance of goods and services, and product audits are available to test compliance with regulations and standards.
