H1N1/09 Swine Flu - keep informed and make sure your business is prepared

The H1N1/09 (Swine Flu) Pandemic is a possible threat to all organisations in the Scottish Borders.

The Council already has its own continuity arrangements in place to ensure the potential impact on Council services is minimised and is keen to ensure that local businesses have considered the implications of the pandemic for their organisation's operations.

Key information about Swine Flu for businesses

Scotland remains amongst the best prepared countries in the world to deal with swine flu.

Whilst the risk to the general public remains low, a widespread outbreak would have an impact on business, making it vital that firms are properly prepared.

Failure to do so, could risk:

  • Loss of revenue;
  • Loss of clients - in short and long term; and
  • Later payments and other cash-flow problems.

The principal risk to businesses will be staff shortages, within your business and within your suppliers.

Given this potential impact, you need to plan now.

The pandemic has promoted many businesses to think about developing or reviewing their business continuity plan.

By effective planning for this pandemic you can minimise the disruption to your business.
