Forestry
Forestry and woodlands are also a very significant land use and the extraction and production of timber is an increasingly important rural activity. Over the next 20 years, a large amount of woodland will mature and be ready to harvest. The Council is keen to encourage the development of this sector and increase the number of jobs locally. This will be influenced by the Scottish Borders Woodland Strategy.
