Applying for Permits

Scottish Borders Council utilizes various permit systems in order to meet its regulatory duties and enforce the applicable legislation. It is our intent to make the majority of the application forms for these permits available online in the near future. Until these application forms are available online you may obtain the following application forms from your local Area Office or Council Contact Centre.

  • Carry out major works on a road
  • Carry out works in or on a road
  • Erect a scaffold or hoarding in the road
  • Place a skip in the road
  • Place a container in the road
  • Temporarily close a road
  • Occupy part of a road (e.g. with building materials)
  • Use temporary traffic lights on a road

In addition to being available at your local Area Office or Council Contact Centre, the following application forms are available online.
