Planning permission will normally be required for extension of business premises, and for works involving a change of use. Further guidance on when a change of use is required can be found in the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) (Scotland) Order 1992.
We are able to provide free advice on development proposals to any company, group or individual who might be interested in developing a new business or extending or altering existing premises.
Where a planning application is required for any work involving a business, we will try to deal with these applications as quickly as possible. Planning applications for financial and professional uses, offices, industry and storage and distribution are dealt with by two officers who have particular responsibility for these types of proposal.
Other applications, including food and drink businesses and all types of retail, will normally be dealt with by the planning officer for the area.
Depending on the type of work you decide to undertake, you may need to use one or more of the following application forms:
- Advertisement Consent
- Planning Permission
- Listed Building Consent
- Conservation Area Consent
- Prior Notification.
Application forms are available to download, complete and send in by post.
Alternatively, applications can be submitted online through ePlanning Scotland.
