Licensing

We, as part of the licensing procedures, are a consultee to the Licensing Section for Houses in Multiple Occupation, licensed premises, civil marriage premises, places of entertainment and community events, in liaison with Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service and Health Board.

Safety of sports grounds

Permanent sports facilities and temporary venues used by the general public require to meet strict safety standards especially relating to means of escape. Legislation associated with this service is varied and includes the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975, The Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987and the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982. This work frequently requires close liaison with other parties including the Police, Fire Authority and Environmental Health.

Disability issues in terms of the Equality Act 2010 and the Building Act

Assessment of the needs of the disabled in respect of access to buildings and facilities within buildings both in terms of the Building Regulations and the Equality Act. Consultations with disability groups in respect of this remit together with the publication of guidance for designers and developers.

Property enquiries, property clearances and inspections

Providing advice and clearance of enquiries during property transactions as consultants for solicitors, surveyors and estate agents.
